A solid hob is defined as a metal solid plate cooking surface with thin coils molded in clay fitted on the underside.

A ceramic hob is defined as a flat ceramic cooking surface with heated elements fitted on the underside.

An induction hob is defined as a flat ceramic cooking surface with metal fitted on the underside which when it interacts with the iron in the base of the pan it generates the electric current that creates the heat you use to cook.
